Welcome to the world of statistics!

The “Statistical Literacy” is a project designed to help pupils, students, as well as those who are interested in statistics, to better understand statistics and some of its basic concepts.

Official statistics help the users to judge on the developments of the transformation processes within the country and are a source of comparison with other countries.

Democratic societies cannot function properly without a strong foundation of reliable and objective statistics. However, statistics are not just for decision makers; they should concern you too! Statistics can give answer many questions of everyday life such as:

  • Is unemployment high?
  • What about employment?
  • How many students graduate per year?
  • How many women have a job?
  • How is my country's economy doing compared to other EU member countries?

By clicking on one of the following topics, you will find simple, easy and understandable explanations of statistical indicators, as well as some statistical concepts.

At the end of each topic you will find the link to the main topic and the Statistical Indicator Glossary.
