National Commission of Classification
The National Commission of classifications leads activities for the adaptation and implementation of official economic and social classifications, in accordance with European and international classifications.
The National Commission of classifications has 19 members and represents the main users of classifications, part of the national statistical system.
The National Commission of classifications is chaired by the General Director of INSTAT, and the members of the commission represent the institutions according to DCM no. Nr. 8, date 12.1.2018.
The classifications used as the basis for collecting, compiling, and disseminating data in any field of statistics. They offer standardized concepts used to describe phenomena such as economic activity, products, expenses, profession, health, etc ...
They are needed to continuously measure these phenomena within and across countries and geographical regions. International classifications set standards for used classifications, which serve as models for the development of relevant national statistical classifications. Classifications make it possible to compare data with the region, Europe or even other countries around the world. . They are tools used by national statistical organizations, international agencies, academies and other users, including legal representatives.
