INSTAT honored with the prestigious “ESRI SAG AWARD 2025”
The Institute of Statistics (INSTAT), as part of its data dissemination strategy for the 2023 Census and the strengthening of regional statistics, has developed two new platforms for the distribution of statistical and geographic information: “Geodata Hub” and “WebGIS”.
Through these platforms, INSTAT has taken an important step toward bringing information closer to users, moving from traditional dissemination methods to the use of more advanced technologies. All users can easily access and download the required data.
- Geodata Hub (INSTAT GeoData Hub) is INSTAT’s online geospatial data platform, providing summarized information from the 2011 and 2023 Censuses of Albania by administrative units, municipalities, and prefectures. A dedicated section also includes regional statistics for the period 2022–2024, focusing on municipalities.
- WebGIS (Web GIS | INSTAT GeoData Hub) is an online geographic information system based on web applications. The platform allows visualization of statistical data through various maps, as well as options for analysis, download, and sharing. It presents Census data at three geographic levels, regional data mainly at the municipal level, and specific indicators at a 1 km² grid level.
For these achievements in visualizing and disseminating statistical and geographic information, INSTAT was awarded a special prize at the annual “ESRI User Conference” held in San Diego, USA.
The award was presented to Ms. Elsa Dhuli, Director General of INSTAT, by Mr. Jack Dangermond, founder and president of ESRI, as a recognition of INSTAT’s dedication and achievements in advancing geospatial data use in official statistics.
