Project objectives: The aim of this action is to prepare the Albanian National Statistical System for future EU membership by aligning its methodologies and practice with the statistical acquis and to integrate them into the European Statistical System.
The specific objectives of the action are as follows:
• Upgrade and strengthen the statistical system of Albania, and further integrate it within the ESS.
• Improve the availability, reliability, timeliness, quality and comparability of statistical data, which is essential for developing, implementing and monitoring of European policies (such as the Western Balkans Strategy, the Economic & Investment Plan for the Western Balkans, policy dialogues with Türkiye) and for the preparation of the Albania for future EU membership.
• Support the efforts in ensuring the professional independence of Albania Institute of Statistics and strengthen its governance role as coordinators of the official statistical system, increasing the trust and confidence in official statistics by users;
• Support actions to improve the efficiency of the National Statistical System (NSS) in Albania using modern and cost-effective methods for statistical production (as the use of administrative registers and other (new) data sources.

Project results: Availability, quality and comparability of statistics through a set of appropriate statistical projects improved; Strengthen further the integration of INSTAT within the ESS; INSTAT administrative capacity strengthened; Cooperation between ESS and INSTAT improved; The role of INSTAT as the coordinator of the NSS strengthened.
